Since I’m changing a lot of images this time around I thought I’d add something fun and the error console gave me the perfect opportunity:
New version due 27th July
At the moment I’m pretty sure all the coding for the 3.5 version of Newgrounds Classic is done and if there aren’t any bugs or delay it will be uploaded on or around the 27th of this month.
The reason it hasn’t been submitted yet is because I’m giving the theme a little more polish by changing some of the icons I’ve neglected in the past. Once that’s or the deadline has been reached I will upload it.
Generator Downtime
Generators will be down for the next couple of days so check the FAQ for manual instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Personas
Personas are simple skins for Firefox that include a header image, background image and a few basic colours for text and Mac OS X windows. These mini-themes allow the average user to style their Firefox the way they want without messing about with code and upload them to the Personas website for all to enjoy.
Sadly, most themes don’t allow for Personas to be used with them and often result in pure ugly but in NG Classic 2.1 they will be fully supported and here’s the proof using the Gray and Black Persona:
NG Classic 2.1 nearing release!
Newgrounds Classic 2.1 still has a bit of work before it’s release but for the most part it is functional. This will mark the first Firefox 3.5 compatible release.
The next version takes on the bullet style approach to displaying security status that is in the newest version of Strata, otherwise known as the default Firefox 3.5 theme.
Bare in mind this is a beta release and while it will reflect most of the final theme for Firefox 3.5 there is no guaranty against any changes or delays and it should be available soon as there are still a few minor bugs to fix.
What is probably the most notable change is that some of the effects have been reworked using Firefox 3.5 specific code and some of the faces will be reworked with shading similar to what they have on Newgrounds, leaving the rest of the more minor images to be updated post release while keeping thier NG Classic 2 counterparts as placeholders.
In this release I hope to keep the theme’s identity the same as in previous releases so it will look almost identical to version 2.0 and besides what I’ve mentioned in this post, you might not even notice what needs changing and in a lot of cases what has been changed. The userChrome.css and userContent.css code for NG Classic 2 will also work with the new version.
