Here is a brief history on Newgrounds Classic from it’s birth until today.
Firefox 2
NG Classic was originally a personal theme and not to be released but as it was nearing it’s completion I decided to make it public and placed it in the Mozilla Sandbox at version 0.65 on November 7, 2007.
While in the sandbox many improvements were made through the help of user input and reviews to make it the first Newgrounds Firefox theme to work on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.
NG Classic left the sandbox on December 8, 2007 at version 1.0.4.1, making pubically available for the first time. The final version for Firefox 2 is version 1.0.4.3 released on January 1, 2008.
Firefox 3
Firefox 3 development began November 23, 2007 shortly after the release of the FF3 beta. The first beta(2.0b) was released on April 15, 2008 and was received well by users keeping up with Firefox betas.
On April 23, 2008 V2.0b3 was released, and the animation was deactivated due to motion sickness with the option being to to turn it on, rather than off. Firefox 3 was finally released along with NG Classic 2.0 June 17, 2008.
Firefox 3.5
Newgrounds Classic 2.2.1 was released on July 28, 2009 and adds the first implementation of Mozilla Personas into the theme, a few more icons and replaces some of the code to use new features introduced in Firefox 3.5.
The addition of Personas gives the user the choice to customise their theme with the many thousands of available Personas or to create their own.
